If the subject is not selected for the first interview, the subject will be invited for a second interview with no additional charge. The second interview should be held in the same room as the first interview, and should only take ten to fifteen minutes. 2. Second Interview. If the subject is not selected for the second interview, the subject will be invited for a third interview with no additional charge. The third interview should be held the day following the second interview. 3. Third Interview. If the subject is not selected for the third interview, the subject for which an interview has been scheduled will be referred to another department at the University of Chicago or one of the participating universities for further consideration. The third option of referral does not guarantee admission but serves to allow the subject to apply to the university with which the subject has the most established contact. 4. Admission into the Program. If the subject is not selected for at least two interview sessions, a written statement of the reason for rejection will be sent to the subject of the second interview. A final written statement of the subject for the Summer term will be sent to the subject of the first interview. 5. If all interviews have been unsuccessful, and the subject is not selected for any interview, a final letter of rejection will be mailed to the subject. 6. The subject will be notified by email of admission or rejection. 7. If admission to the Program is not granted, the subject will be required to apply for admission under the Graduate Research Opportunities Program (GROUP), the Graduate Research Assistant ship Program (GAP), or the Graduate Study Abroad Program (GAP) guidelines by the Summer after completion of first term studies. (GAP is a two-month study-abroad trip that is conducted by a faculty member at the University of Chicago during the summer of one academic year. GROUP is a seven-week, one-credit undergraduate certificate awarded to students who are full time undergraduate students, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who demonstrate a significant interest in studying abroad.) If the subject decides to apply GROUP, GAP or both, the subject will be required to submit a paper of the subject's work with a grade of B or higher from a member of the department upon request of the university and the dean of the college.
