Drawing not only on sociological sources, but also on the cultural, political, and economic analysis of scholars like Foucault and Negro, she makes a persuasive case for the sociological significance of globalization, and also for the necessity of a multilayered approach that integrates analysis of material and historical variables into a critique of social control, as well as human rights. This lecture will discuss how Lassen's argument for the importance of sociological knowledge applies in the context of the current globalized system and what the implications are for contemporary society.
