S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service join forces in the search for the cause of the mysterious cave collapse. A team of researchers at the Arizona Corporation for Space and Research has been hard at work at the Cave site near Glenn's Ferry, Idaho since August of last year. They are still searching for answers to the question of what caused the cave collapse. Their work has included a lot of groundbreaking research using various methods of investigating underground structures that have been well documented in the literature up to the present day. The data from the groundbreaking research is already beginning to answer some key questions. In particular, the team has identified two areas where evidence appears to lead the team to believe that an air-filled pipe may have played a role in causing the cave collapse. This paper is concerned primarily with the question of what happened at those two specific zones and to whom. They are the subject of an article by Dr. Mike Award and Dr. Alan Ever. There are other areas of interest in the Cave site, but that is beyond the scope of this paper. The paper is an attempt to answer and to answer it in a way that will hopefully help with understanding and explaining this past week's events and help the future of understanding the causes and consequences of human activities in the Earth's biosphere. The Cave has some good documentation in the literature with an excellent description by Dr. Robert T. Rousseau in the 1975 textbook The World's Mammals (Wright ed 1978, p. 15), and his 1987 review of the subject in the book Earth's Human Origins and the Evolution of Human Behavior. It is not the place nor should it be the place, to go into the finer points of how I got involved in the analysis of the cave collapse. I know of no books or articles specifically on the subject that I can say contain the best and most complete summary of this topic that I had the good fortune to find. This was a long quest for me. In fact, I will say it is not surprising in view of the fact that I have a degree in Anthropology which is in the Anthropology Department and that I am a trained professional in that field of study. The most complete and accurate description one can find as far as my own background is found in the book “The Cave and the Cave Man” by Michael COE (1983) which I have not read, but I believe I have seen it referred to.
