A unique form of the pyrimidines, namely 3-hydroxymethyl, with a structural form, 1H-1,3-diphenyl-1H-1,4-methylene-1,2-diphenylpropionate (HAPPY), is a potential novel molecule that could be useful as a therapeutic molecule that acts on the brain through a different mechanism than the classical 1,4-diphenyl-1,2-diphenylpropionates (Dips) and thus different from the antipsychotics, such as chlorpromazine, for example, 1-(1,4-diphenylacetyl)-1-(oxazolyloxy)-propane[2,3-a][1,4]benzofuran-1-ylpropyl hydrochloride (PCP). In this work, it is the aim to test the effects of the analog of DPH on cell survival and differentiation by the use of in vitro differentiation conditions. To this aim, the following three groups of mice were used: Mice with DPH, DPH + PCP, and control. DPH was prepared according to published procedure. The first group of mice were treated by adding 2-4 mg/mL of DPH to the drinking water (2.5 mg/mL of DPH) daily for 2 weeks. The mice were divided into two groups, i) DPH + PCP, and ii) control. The second group of mice is treated by adding 1 mg/mL of PCP to the drinking water (1 mg/mL of PCP) daily for 16 weeks. The mice were divided into two groups, i) DPH + PCP + MLP, or ii) control. The results of the in vivo experiment showed a significant increase in survival rate in mice treated with DPH as compared to control. The survival rate of the first group was enhanced by 3.4 times as compared to the control. The survival rate in mice treated with DPH + PCP was increased by 4.5 times as compared to the control.
