Instructions on Form 990-PF. If the name of the organization is not easily remembered, write in the general category of organization for nonprofit. Otherwise, use the organization's name. If the organization has more than one name, use the most common name. If there are legal, tax or business entities associated with the name of the organization, write the legal name of each entity. For example, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Foundation, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Foundation, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Foundation, and then add. Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Foundation as the legal name of the organization for tax reporting purposes. After the names of the organization for legal reporting purposes, include the name of any corporation, partnership, organization or other legal entity that holds a legal or tax-exempt federal tax-exempt status by reference to section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code or an equivalent state tax code. The “c”, “s” or “c” in section 501(c)(3)(C) or section 501(c)(4)(A) designates whether the “section” is a general section, a specific section, or a specific section modified or excluded for tax-exempt purposes. For example, it can designate “Section 501(E)” or “Section 501(E)(3)” for a specific section, or it can designate “Section 501(e) or (k)” for a specific section. Write the organization's social security number for the primary taxpayer. For purposes of determining whether you can claim the credit for this expenditure, you must first determine whether the social security number on file with the IRS is an SSN or a person's social security number (such as a driver's license number). After you know the social security number, enter that number in box 15. If you do not have an SSN, enter “0” in box 15. Do not complete all the boxes in the “other expenses” field (if applicable) because you will need those for the credit, and you do not need the rest of the information for this schedule. If there are separate line items for expenses related to conducting the aquarium's scientific research program, enter the total of these line items in box 15 after figuring any amounts associated with research. The remainder of the line items for this activity are entered in this box after any amounts associated with performing activities other than research are determined.
