We show how our new partitioning model can overcome the following problems as well as introduce new problems and enable new solutions. We argue the need for a general-purpose multi-purpose partition scheme and that multi-phase commit is a viable alternative. In addition to the above-mentioned issues and the ones already pointed out by other authors, the existing multi-phase partitioning model is based on a single phase commit scheme that cannot tolerate an attack. Although our partition scheme has two phase commits, it achieves significant partition tolerance, as discussed in the paper.
