The vessel was filled to the brim with a fresh wash water and then filled to the brim with a standard detergent solution and placed within a flow meter. Flow tests were conducted on both the inside and out of the vessel. For inside measurements, the interior of both the inside and outside were measured with different flows. For inside measurement of the inside, a volume of 1.1L (7 oz) was filled with water, placed within a flow meter, and turned off. For the outside measurements, the outside of the vessel was filled with a volume of 0.6 liters (1.8 oz) of water, placed within a flow meter, turned off, and the inside of the vessel was measured with the outside measured with the inside measured with the outside. The average flow through both the inside and outside the vessel in both water types was determined. For these calculations, one liter of volume was assumed to equal 1 L of water. Results: As the vessel filled to the brim, the average flow rate was found to be 12L/min, with an inside flow rate of 7 L/min and an outside flow rate of 17L/min. There was little difference between the inside and outside flow rates and the inside flow rate was close to the outside flow rate. The flow rate through both the inside and outside was found to decrease progressively with increasing water density. There was a significant relationship between water density and the rate of flow through both the inside and outside. The relationship shows that for very small differences in the water density, as density increases, the rate of flow increases as well. Conclusions: The data in this work demonstrates the efficiency of certain vessels of a given size when filled to maximum capacity. A maximum water capacity of 7L is found to fit into the volume of a regular sized drinking cup, and the ability to increase the interior volume of the vessel as the density increases, and still have an effective flow rate of 12 L/min, suggests that, when a regular sized drinking cup is used, it is possible to fill it and use it without significantly affecting the drinking water consumed. For those who desire to have a cup that is not a regular sized cup, they can fill it at a flow rate of 10 L/min, and still have an effective flow of 20 L/min.
