Your background should be plain white or a very subtle gradient/pattern that is not distracting and your text should be clear and easy to read. Make Important Information Stand Out. Line Things Up. Don't Make it Crowded.
What Makes a Good Poster? Important information should be readable from about 10 feet away. Title is short and draws interest. Word count of about 300 to 800 words. Text is clear and to the point. Use of bullets, numbering, and headlines make it easy to read. Effective use of graphics, color and fonts.
Using a Poster Template on Word Open up Microsoft Word. Type 'Posters' into the search bar at the top of the page. Choose from the pre-made templates available and download the one you want.
Create a new poster Go to Design –> Slide Size. Choose Custom Slide Size. Set Width and Height (max. 56″) Choose the Landscape (horizontal) or Portrait orientation. Click OK. If a message pops up telling you that “The current page size exceeds the printable area of the paper in the printer” just click OK.
