Questions & answers

Give as much information in the subject line as possible. Some bookers get SO MANY emails that they request long subject lines to help them figure out if they should urgently read your email, or not. However, do not put the word “urgent” in your subject line. A simple suggestion is to put ARTIST NAME in CITY on DATE.
You say, “I'm writing to work with you to schedule a date for me and my band to perform at (insert venue name here).” Don't make promises you can't keep, like telling a venue that you will fill the place up, when you know you're just saying what you think they want to hear in order to get a booking.
For most bookings, you'll be working with the artist's agent. The agent typically handles all of their client's bookings, and they'll be your main point of contact for scheduling, negotiations, and the contract process. (In some cases, you may work with the artist's manager, but the process is still the same.)
To book them, just go to their website and send them an email detailing: the place, time, set length, and any other event details. This way, you can get a sense for if the band is available and interested. Then, you can talk money. Here, you can either make an offer, or ask the artist for a quote.
When writing an email to a hotel, you can start with Hello or Dear (hotel name). Say clearly the dates you want, the room type and whether you want breakfast or not. Don't forget to mention any additional information or special requests. Ask them to confirm your booking.
