When well integrated into your argument, your use of evidence helps prove that you have done your research and thought critically about your topic. To introduce evidence in an essay, start by establishing a claim or idea in the first sentence of the paragraph, then present the evidence to support your claim.
Here are some ways to work evidence into your writing: Offer evidence that agrees with your stance up to a point, then add to it with ideas of your own. Present evidence that contradicts your stance, and then argue against (refute) that evidence and therefore strengthen your position.
Integrating evidence into your own writing Then you need to look at the particular paragraph in which a piece of evidence belongs to decide how it can be integrated, remembering that its role will be to support or expand on a point you've already made in your own words within that paragraph.
It is presented to persuade readers, and used with powerful arguments in the texts or essays. It is factual information that helps the reader reach a conclusion and form an opinion about something. Evidence is given in research work, or is quoted in essays and thesis statements, but is paraphrased by the writer.
Evaluation of the Evidence Remember that evaluation should focus on the three key concepts: sufficient, relevant, and representative. It is not necessary to cover all three of these ideas in every piece of evidence you discuss, but you should try to touch on all of them at some point in your paper.
EXPLAIN: Make sure to explain your quotes. Provide analysis that ties them back to your main idea / topic sentence. In other words, comment on the evidence in order to incorporate it into the argument you're making.
State the idea you had about the text (if you are responding to a specific question, be sure your idea restates the question). Now give supporting evidence from the text. To cite explicitly, paraphrase or use quotes from the text. If you use direct quotes from a text, you must use quotation marks.
Use a claim or argument to introduce the evidence. Work the evidence into a sentence. Include the author's name and the title of the reference. Use quotation marks around a direct quote. Cite the evidence properly.
