What voids a UL listing?
A UL Listed product was modified in the field. Does this void the Listing? An authorized use of the UL Mark is the manufacturer's declaration that the product was manufactured in accordance with all applicable requirements, and was in compliance with those requirements when it was shipped from the factory.
What is European equivalent of UL listing?
What is a CE mark and is it equivalent to a UL Listing Mark? A CE Marking is a European marking of conformity that indicates that a product complies with the requirements of the applicable European laws or directives.
Is CE same as UL?
The letters CE means that the product meets the European Union's safety standards and other requirements for sale. UL means the product meets the standards of Underwriters Laboratories, a private safety testing organization, and FCC means the product meets the standards of the Federal Communications Commission.
What does UL Listed mean?
UL Listed Mark (all variations) UL Listing means that UL has tested representative samples of a product and determined that the product meets specific, defined requirements. These requirements are often based on UL's published and nationally recognized Standards for Safety.
What is UL and CSA?
CSA stands for Canadian Standards Association. Originally they were responsible for establishing norms in the Canadian market. UL stands for Underwriters Laboratory, and they used to be responsible for establishing the norms for the US market.
Does NEC require UL listing?
The NEC cannot require UL listing for anything without getting sued, what they can require is listing by a NRL, Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, which UL is the most common NRL, but not the only one.
Does electrical equipment have to be UL listed?
The National Electrical Code requires that all items installed in a building be tested by an NRL, generally that means UL listed. This does not apply to your personal use items, but does apply to any fixed appliances or electrical equipment that is installed within your home or commercial facility.
What is the relationship between the NEC and UL?
Senior Member. In some cases, the NEC calls for materials and equipment to be listed. In all cases, listed and labeled equipment must be installed and used in accordance with the listing and labeling instructions. UL is one agency that provides the guidelines for these products.
