Once you define your data protection policies and assign AWS resources to the policies, AWS Backup automates the creation of backups and stores those backups in an encrypted backup vault that you designate.
You can store an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) in an Amazon S3 bucket, copy the AMI to another S3 bucket, and then restore it from the S3 bucket.
Launch a fresh EC2 instance from your AMI image. Sign-in to your new EC2 instance (either using SSH or Windows RDP). Copy data from your new EC2 instance to your original EC2 instance using your preferred tools. Continue using your original EC2 instance going forward.
You can also automate Amazon Machine Images (AMI) backups as well. An AMI is a template that contains a software configuration (for example, an operating system, an application server, and applications). From an AMI, you launch an instance, which is a copy of the AMI running as a virtual server in the cloud.
In the Backup pane, choose the recovery point ID of the resource. In the upper-right corner of the pane, choose Restore (alternatively, you can go to the backup vault, find the recovery point, and then click Actions then click Restore).
Where is my data backed up? Druva backs up your data in the cloud hosted by Amazon. Druva relies on the robustness and the security standards of Amazon Web Services to ensure that your backup data stays safe and secure.
If you don't have backups of your deleted AMI, then AWS Support can't recover it for you. For more information on the security of customer data, see Shared responsibility model.
