I accidentally forgot to cancel my…
I accidentally forgot to cancel my subscription (I only wanted to use the free trial) and my PayPal was charged $144. I freaked out and emailed pdfFiller’s customer support and they got back to me within an hour and refunded me! In the future I plan on using their services (right now I can’t afford it) because of how amazing their customer support is!

What is considered a split shift?

How does split shift pay work?
A split shift is a work schedule that is interrupted by non-paid and non-working time periods established by the employer. A minimum wage employee with a split shift schedule must be paid a split shift premium. The employee must be paid the premium each shift their daily schedule is split.
What does it mean to work shift?
Shift work is an employment practice designed to make use of, or provide service across, all 24 hours of the clock each day of the week (often abbreviated as 24/7). The practice typically sees the day divided into shifts, set periods of time during which different groups of workers perform their duties.
How long is a split shift?
A typical split shift is separated by two or more hours. In a restaurant setting, for example, you might schedule a server from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (to cover the lunch rush) and again from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (to cover the dinner service).
Why are split shifts bad?
Split shift working is bad for your heart, say scientists. Workers who do combinations of night and day shifts are at greater risk from heart disease, diabetes and accidents caused by slow reactions, say two studies for the Health and Safety Executive.

The Industrial Welfare Commission defines a split shift as a work schedule that is interrupted by a non-paid, non-working period established by the employer that is not a rest or meal period. (See IWC Wage Order No. 5, Section 2).

A split shift is defined in the California IWC Wage Orders as: If the employee works two shifts separated by more than a rest or meal period, they are entitled to receive one hour's of pay at the minimum wage rate in addition to the minimum wage for that work day.
