From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose Administration System Initialization Posting Periods. Click the. (Link Arrow) icon of the period you want to lock. The Posting Period window appears. In the Period Status field, change the value to Locked. Choose Update and choose OK.
Select Posting Period Variant. Select Account Type. Enter the Account number range for which you want to change the periods. Enter the Period to Open as per the Fiscal Year Variant of the Company Code assigned to the Posting Period Variant. Enter the Period to which posting to be Open.
In SAP, Open and close posting periods variant enables to open the current posting periods and other posting periods remains in closed. It controls what are the posting periods to open and close for entries. Through posting period variant, you can determine which company codes are open for posting period.
Transaction code: BBO. Menu Path: PRO > IMG > Financial Accounting > Financial Accounting Global Settings > Document > Posting periods > Define variants for open posting periods.
To open closed period, go to SU01, key in the user ID and in parameter tab, key in MMPI_READ_NOTE and date which you want to open and save. Please go through note 487381 for more details.

Select Posting Period Variant. Select Account Type. Enter the Account number range for which you want to change the periods. Enter the Period to Open as per the Fiscal Year Variant of the Company Code assigned to the Posting Period Variant. Enter the Period to which posting to be Open.
You can open only one period at a time. If Financial year is from January to December then, period 01 = January and period 12=December in MM periods. If Financial year is from April to March then, period 01 = April (this year) and period 12= March (next year) in MM periods. Now got MMP and close current period.
