Financial obligations include tuition, mandatory fees, insurance, books, supplies, travel arrangements and other costs associated with fulfilling your degree requirements. It is the student's responsibility to manage their budget and financial obligations to the University. This includes not using excessive credit cards, making excess purchases at the expense of the University and for example, not applying for financial aid. Students who exceed the University's financial obligations will have their financial aid reduced. This does not exclude the possibility of financial aid that the University may be able to offer. Students who fail to meet their financial obligations may face the prospect of a financial default. If a student fails to meet their financial obligations, then no tuition will be waived and no financial aid will be available. Students who qualify for financial aid, do not meet their obligations and go on financial default are still required to make progress toward their degree. All students who have defaulted will not be given an academic grade for this course. There is no appeal process if a student has been referred to the Title IV Coordinator as a result of failing to meet financial requirements and cannot be classified to meet the academic standards required for the degree. A student's financial burden can be removed by the University after they have completed 30 calendar hours at the University. If this course was part of a degree, the student may be classified to meet the current standards if they do not have any other unsatisfactory academic standing (other than the current academic standing), and have not been classified as being ineligible to continue on the student's record for at least 60 calendar hours. Students should attempt to complete the course as soon as possible after being classified by the University. Students who do not complete the course within 60 calendar hours after being classified are deemed to be in default of their financial obligation and cannot be granted a waiver. In some cases, there may be an automatic hearing prior to a determination. There is an exception to mandatory course registration. If a student enrolls in a requirement-intensive course that carries a tuition bill that exceeds the amount of financial aid and grants the student will be allowed to complete the course. In these cases, the student will be required to pay tuition and must pay for all fees and books in the spring term with fall term fees included. Students should consider carefully the financial aid that may be awarded to them, as the amount awarded to students can be reduced or withheld on the grounds of noncompliance with financial obligations.
