For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Fill out your court forms. Have your forms reviewed. Make at least 2 copies of all your forms. File your forms with the court clerk. Serve your papers on the other parent. File your Proof of Service. Go to your court hearing.
Ignoring the papers will not make the case go away. In fact, if you do not file a response within 21 calendar days, the court could enter a default against you, and the other parent may be able to get everything they asked for in their complaint.
Pull the header information from the plaintiff's petition. Title your Answer Answer to Plaintiff's Petition/Complaint. Center this title and make it bold. Introduce yourself. Admit, deny, or claim that you lack sufficient knowledge to admit or deny each of the plaintiff's numbered allegations.
Fill out your court forms. Fill out: Have your forms reviewed. Make at least 3 copies of all your forms. File your forms with the court clerk. Serve your papers on the LCSA and the other parent. File your proof of service. Go to your court hearing.
Summons & Complaint When we file a case with the court, the papers we file are called a Summons and Complaint and Proposed Judgment (S&C ). These papers are very important. They tell the PPS that a lawsuit has been filed and how much support we are asking the court to order.
If you disagree with your FINAL child support order, you have the right to object. This means you can ask the court to look at the facts of your case again. This is called filing an objection (objection). Either party in a child support case is allowed to object.
Yes, but before you appeal a child support order, you must first file an objection asking a judge in Family Court to review the order made by the support magistrate (MAH-jis-trate). If the judge makes a decision on your objection that you do not agree with, you can file an appeal.
It is possible to have your child support order modified without having to go to court--but only in very limited circumstances. Some judges include a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) clause in all the child support orders they issue. File your request for child support modification with the appropriate court.
Fill out your court forms. Have your forms reviewed. 3. Make at least 2 copies of all your forms. File your forms with the court clerk. Serve your papers on the other parent. File your proof of service. Go to your court hearing.
If you do not respond to a civil summons, the court can grant the other party judgment against you in the underlying case. This means the other side will automatically win. Failing to honor a criminal summons, by contrast, could lead to your arrest and even time in jail.
Do not ignore your mail. Don't attempt to manipulate the information you're supplying to the courts. Do not arrive late to your child support hearing or fail to show up at all. Do not stray from the topic at hand. Don't entertain unrealistic expectations.
Q: How long will I be in court? A: Expect to be in court anywhere from two to four hours. Most hearings only last 15-20 minutes, but your matter may not be the first case called. Other hearings are scheduled for the same date and time as your hearing.
Gather your tax returns, income statements, any retirement income, proof of expenses, and current pay stubs. The court will want to see them all and maybe other documents, too.
If you want help requesting a modification, consult with a qualified child support attorney. In general, family law doesn't allow for child support modification unless at least one parent can show a change in his or her circumstances that makes the child support modification necessary.
