I had trouble with printing but being the stubborn person I am, I did not request help. I did manage to print after a while. When I did complain, they listened and made a correction on the bill. I'm quite happy with the program now.

How do you calculate peak to valley ratio in Empower?
If we recall from Tip #74, the ratio of peak height to valley height is calculated as start p/v or end p/v. The height of the relatively big peak at 1.005 minutes ends at a valley point, so Empower Software reports the end p/v.
How do you increase peak to valley ratio?
Peak/valley ratio is another way of specifying resolution. You can improve that be increasing retention (as suggested by Scientologist), by increasing efficiency (plate count), or by changing selectivity. You need to dig one level deeper to see *why* the peak/valley ratio is too low.
What is Empowered software used for?
Empower 3 Software, our flagship chromatography data software (CDS), makes it easier than ever to run samples and produce meaningful results without experiencing downtime for training, re-engineering workflow, or adding new software to support instruments or advanced chromatographic techniques.
What is chromatography data analysis?
Sometimes referred to as a chromatography data management system (CDs), a chromatography data system (CDS) is a set of dedicated data-collection tools that interface and/or integrate with a laboratory's chromatography equipment.

How do you calculate RRT empowerment?
RRT stands for relative retention time. Simply pick a named peak from the list and any unnamed peaks will be assigned a name beginning with RRT followed by a number. That number is the retention time of the unnamed peak divided by the retention time of the selected named peak.
What is the formula for minute ventilation?
Minute ventilation (VE) is the total volume of gas entering (or leaving) the lung per minute. It is equal to the tidal volume (TV) multiplied by the respiratory rate (f). Minute ventilation = VE = TV x f At rest, a normal person moves ~450 ml/breath x 10 breath/min = 4500 ml/min.
How do you calculate pulmonary ventilation?
ventilation = Respiratory frequency × (Tidal volume--dead space volume). From this relationship it is evident that for a given level of total pulmonary ventilation the alveolar ventilation will be less if respiratory rate is increased and tidal volume decreased or if the dead space volume is increased.

What affects retention time in HPLC?
For a particular compound, the retention time will vary depending on: the pressure used (because that affects the flow rate of the solvent) the nature of the stationary phase (not only what material it is made of, but also particle size) the exact composition of the solvent.
Why is retention time important?
A longer column generally improves the separation. The trade-off is that the retention time increases proportionally to the column length and a significant peak broadening will be observed as well because of increased longitudinal diffusion inside the column. This broadening is inversely proportional to the flow rate.
How is relative retention time calculated in HPLC?
Divide the RT of the pique of interest by the RT of the main peak to find the RRT of the pique of interest. In our case, this would be 1.5 minutes/3 minutes, or 0.5.
How do you create a report in Empower?
A series of default projects that are provided with Empower.
