The service produces a very handsome document, and facilitates changes when necessary. I had a little trouble navigating back and forth between the document and the print function, but that may be attributable to my lack of familiarity with the product.

Before trying an online Social Security number lookup, you may want to see if you already have access to it. As long as there has been a valid Social Security number issued to you, you can find it in several ways. The first place you can find it is on your Social Security Card.
If you do not know your SSN (Social Security Number) and have lost your original card, you will need to visit your local Social Security Administration office — in person. To discuss your Social Security number or to obtain a replacement card, you will need certain documents as proof of U.S. citizenship.
Visit your local SSA office. You can file your application for an SSN card in person at any SSA office. Be prepared to provide your original documents to prove your age, identity and work-authorized immigration status. All evidence of immigration status and work authorization must be unexpired.
Beginning with cards issued October 2007 or later, Social Security cards include the issue date on the front of the card. Tax preparers tell us that some people are crossing out the issue date and replacing it with their birthdate.
Although SSNs are issued in some order, there is no simple way to tell a person's age based on his Social Security number.

You can find the office's address, phone number, and its hours of operation. Making an appointment is not required to visit an office, but the SSA highly recommends it, as budget and staff cuts have led to longer wait times in recent years.
If you do not want to apply for benefits online, or you need to speak to us for any other reason, you can schedule, reschedule or cancel an appointment by: Calling us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; or. Contacting your local Social Security office.
The average wait time for service at an SSA field office was about 25 minutes in Fiscal Year (FY) 2017, according to the agency; that is up from about 19 minutes in FY2010. Also, since FY2010, wait times have increased in all 10 SSA regions.
