The supercharged version of Samsung's 2019 flagship phone Samsung has taken the plunge into 5G with the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the super-fast variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10 range it launched in February 2019.
Samsung has announced today that it has made improvements to protect the Galaxy Fold's screen and will begin selling the folding phone soon. Four months after the company delayed the retail launch of the phone, Samsung now says the Galaxy Fold will be available for purchase at an unspecified date in September.
AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint have all launched their 5G networks, but there are caveats. First, there are only two 5G-compatible smartphones on the market: Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G and LG's V50 Thing 5G.
Four months after the company delayed the retail launch of the phone, Samsung now says the Galaxy Fold will be available for purchase at an unspecified date in September. Samsung has confirmed the price will remain the same as before: $1,980. ... The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.
You'll need a 5G phone to connect to the 5G network. You can find the 5G enabled Huawei Mate 20 X, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 at Vodafone.
While 5G is new and will keep improving, so to will 4G. 5G builds on 4G, so users will see faster 4G LTE speeds -- particularly when paired with 5G. They'll also see lower latencies thanks to the steps operators are taking with 5G. But 4G chips likely won't see huge speed increases on their own.
However, T-Mobile's full nationwide 5G coverage won't be around until 2020, and they're on track having completed their first low-band 5G signal in November 2018, in Spokane, Washington. In early 2019, T-Mobile confirmed that on the 600 MHz spectrum, one 5G tower can transmit signals over one thousand square miles.
Nationwide 5G from T-Mobile became available December 2, 2019. The company's not only rolling out mobile 5G but is also developing a 5G broadband service so that you can get 5G's ultrafast speeds at home, too. Metro, the company's prepaid brand, is also getting 5G in 2019.
T-Mobile actually has some 5G coverage right now, using the millimeter-wave technology. That service went live at the end of June in six cities Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York with Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G as the first phone that worked on T-Mobile's 5G network.
Enjoy faster connections with our earliest 5G network at no additional cost now available in select outdoor locations with the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. More 5G coverage areas are coming soon. In the meantime, you can count on our amazing 4G LTE network to keep you connected.
