Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Sand all sides of the plywood using 80-grit sandpaper. Repeat sanding with 120-grit sandpaper. Wipe off any plywood dust with a clean cloth or rag. Apply sanding sealer in even brush strokes to coat the surface of the wood, using a clean paintbrush. Use 120-grit sandpaper again to lightly sand the sealed surface.

The most common type is the paint or spray-on liquid latex. Another form of plywood sheets waterproofing is by using penetrating oils and sealers. Before applying the waterproofing material it is best to wipe the sheets and sand them. When wetting the plywood sheets, its grain will raise slightly.
Smiths Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer was used to seal the edges and faces of the plywood. Particular attention is given to the edges, as they offer exposed end grain which will naturally wick up water. Fortunately the edges also wick up the CUES very readily.
Plywood is a laminated material that accepts waterproofing easily. When plywood is used in any capacity outdoors, waterproofing prolongs its life. Since plywood is made by gluing layers of wood together and finishing it with a veneer, the layers are vulnerable to water damage.
Marine-grade plywood, often simply called marine plywood, is not what it's often claimed to be. That is, it's not waterproof. Since it's not treated with chemicals it is not rot-resistant. However, it is a good-quality, hardwood plywood made with waterproof glue.
Cover your plywood and elevate it off the ground during the construction process. Apply a weather-protective stain or a water-repellent preservative by using a paintbrush to the plywood prior to its installation into the home or building project.
Apply water seal to the surface of the plywood. The water seal usually comes in brand names such as Thompson's Material. However, there is a wide variety of weather sealants found in any hardware store paint department. Use a pump-up garden sprayer to apply the sealer.
