How long can you have a forwarding address?
If your move is temporary, you can use this service for as short as 15 days or as long as 1 year. After the first 6 months, you can extend for another 6 months. Direct your mail to a new address with a few clicks and a $1.05 charge to your credit card (the charge verifies your identity).
What happens when mail forwarding stops?
You need to officially change your address with the local post office before your mail forwarding expires. Otherwise, the mail won't be forwarded and will either be sent back to the sender to destroyed (thrown in the trash).
How many extra days does it take to get forwarded mail?
Since processing times to the old address can normally take 3 days, it can take an additional 3 days to process it to a new address. Normal times can range from 1 day for a local change of address that's caught by automated machinery to 1 week (remember the USPS delivers 6 days in a week and not 7 days).
How do I forward my mail USPS?
Simply go to USPS.com, select the Quick Tools tab and click on Change My Address. Once you've selected this tab, you'll be redirected to the USPS Official Change of Address form. From there, you'll enter the old address, new address and the date you wish to begin forwarding your mail.
When should we start forwarding mail to your new address?
You should do so at least 30 days before you move, or as soon as you know your new address and the date of your move. The post office will forward mail with your old address to your new residence beginning on the start date you included on the Change of Address Order form.
Is mail forwarding immediate?
You can request mail forwarding for as long as one year or as brief as 15 days. Plan on being away for three to 30 days after the move? The USPS can hold your mail at your local post office until you get back.
How do I register an address with USPS?
The USPS offers three options for registering an address: online, by telephone or by completing a form in person at a local Post Office. The only option that doesn't require you to pay a fee involves going to the post office in person or mailing a completed Change of Address form.

Why is my address invalid?
