For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
It means the employer is asking you for work permit. This is asked in cases where a candidate is not an adult. If a candidate is minor that means his age is below 18 then as per law they can't hire him but if the candidate has a work permit (he can get it from his school) then he can be hired.
Typically, after an employer agrees to hire a minor, the minor obtains from his or her school a Department of Education form entitled “Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit”. The form must be completed by the minor and the employer and signed by the minor's parent or guardian and the employer.
Minors between 16 and 18 years of age who have dropped out of school must be enrolled in continuation or adult school classes for at least four hours per week before getting a work permit.
Minors must be at least 14 years of age to obtain a work permit. Work permits can be deemed by the school superintendent. A new work permit must be issued each time the minor changes' employment. Within 3 days of termination of employment the work permit shall be returned to the issuing authority.
Minors employed in the state of California must have a Permit to Employ and Work (commonly referred to as a work permit). Work permits are typically issued by the school where the student is enrolled. The school district reviews the B1-1 form and issues the B1-4 (Work Permit).
A work permit is not required for a minor 16 years or older who has completed the requirements for high school graduation or has obtained a high school equivalency certificate and provided copy of certification to the employer.
Obtain working papers/certificate application from your school or state department of labor. Obtain a certificate of physical fitness from your doctor.
If the teenager is not a U.S. citizen, obtain the alien certification number of the parent. Complete the online work permit authorization form, which can be found on the Department of State website for the state in which the 15-year-old wants to work. Print this form. Submit this form to an authorized signer.
