Select the cells you want to format. In the Format sidebar, click the Cell tab, then click the Data Format pop-up menu and choose Currency. Do any of the following: Click the Currency pop-up menu, then choose a currency symbol, such as US Dollar ($).
Select the cells you want to format, tap. , then tap Format. Tap. To the right of Number, tap a format (Number, Scientific, or Fraction), then set the number of decimal places and other display options.
To change some currency numbers to another type of currency, such as Euros, select the cells you want to change. In the Number section of the Home tab, click he Number Format button in the lower-right corner of the section. On the Number tab, Currency should be selected in the Category list.
Tip: To quickly apply the Currency format, select the cell or range of cells that you want to format, and then press Ctrl+Shift+$. Like the Currency format, the Accounting format is used for monetary values. But, this format aligns the currency symbols and decimal points of numbers in a column.
The Currency format and the Accounting format in Excel are very similar to each other. This example shows the difference. The Currency format places the dollar sign right next to the number. 3. The Accounting format aligns the dollar signs at the left edge of the cell and displays a dash for zero values.
To do this, select the cells you want to format. Then, select Currency from the Number Format drop-down list in the Number section of the Home tab. The numbers in the selected cells are all formatted as currency with Windows' default currency symbol applied.
Currency format places a currency symbol directly to the left of the first digit of the currency value and displays negative numbers with a negative sign. Accounting format fixes a currency symbol at the left edge of the column, and displays negative numbers within parenthesis and zero values with a dash.
