Bisect another angle. Where they cross is the center of the inscribed circle, called the in center. Construct a perpendicular from the center point to one side of the triangle. Place compass on the center point, adjust its length to where the perpendicular crosses the triangle, and draw your inscribed circle!
STEPS: Using your compass, draw a circle and label the center O. Using your straightedge, draw a diameter of the circle, labeling the endpoints A and B. Construct the perpendicular bisector of the diameter, Label the points where the bisector intersects the circle as C and D.
Square inscribed in a circle. A diameter of the circle is drawn. A perpendicular bisector of the diameter is drawn using the method described in Perpendicular bisector of a segment. This is also a diameter of the circle. The resulting four points on the circle are the vertices of the inscribed square.

But instead of drawing a hexagon, we use every other vertex to make a triangle instead. Since the hexagon construction effectively divided the circle into six equal arcs, by using every other point, we divide it into three equal arcs instead. The three chords of these arcs form the desired equilateral triangle.
Rotate the ruler until the mark representing the length of the baseline touches the perpendicular bisector. If it cannot touch, extend the bisector. Draw the line, then repeat this process to draw the third line. You now have a triangle with three congruent sides and three congruent angles, or an equilateral triangle.

Constructing a Regular Hexagon Draw enough of the circle to see where it crosses the original circle, and mark the point of intersection. Next, place the compass on this new point and repeat this process to obtain a third point. Keep doing this until you have six points. Connect them to obtain the hexagon.
