Begin one inch from the top of the first page and flush with the left margin. Type your name, your instructor's name, the course number, and the date on separate lines, using double spaces between each. Double space once more and center the title. Do not place a period after the title or after any headings.
Create a header in the upper right-hand corner that includes your last name, followed by a space with a page number. Number all pages consecutively with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin.
The MLA header: Every line in your paper should be double-spaced, including the space between the heading and the text. The header: The header with your last name and the page number should appear at the top right-hand corner of every page of your paper.
The header goes in the upper right-hand corner. The first header should appear on the second page of the document and then continue to the end of the document. It should include your last name, followed by just the page number to the right of your last name.
