A default password is a standard pre-configured password for a device. Such passwords are the default configuration for many devices and, if unchanged, present a serious security risk. Default passwords are intended to be placeholders and used only for the initial setup of hardware or after a factory reset.
LX & Discovery: These by default have no passwords for the accounts i.e. the 'admin' account will need the password field left blank. The DVR will advise 'Default password is NULL' which reminds that there is no password and does not mean to enter 'NULL' as the password.

Username. A username is a name that uniquely identifies someone on a computer system. Start up (or re-start) your computer and press F8 repeatedly. From the menu that appears, choose Safe Mode. Key in "Administrator" in Username (note the capital A), and leave the password blank. You should be logged in to safe mode. Go to Control Panel, then User Accounts.
