Affidavits are cited in a legal document any time they are referenced, whether through direct quotation or generally. An affidavit citation should include the affine's last name and the paragraph number where the cited information is found in the affidavit. Provide the citation after the statement.
The Blue book abbreviation for affidavit is AFF. This is the abbreviation that should always be included in a citation for an affidavit to indicate that it is an affidavit being referenced. According to the Blue book, an affidavit citation reads [Affine Last Name] AFF. ¶ [Paragraph Number] inside the parenthesis.
According to Blue book style, evidence from a deposition should be cited in parentheses within the text. List the last name of the witness providing the deposition. The first letter should be capitalized. List the type of court document, followed by the page number and a period.
