Using white-out or making an erasure on a certificate of title when transferring ownership automatically voids the certificate. If this occurs, a duplicate title must be obtained by the current owner and the incorrect title should be enclosed with your request.
Corrected title is defined differently depending on the state. In some states, a corrected title will be issued for removing or adding an owner's name due to divorce, death or marriage. In other states, details about the vehicle, such as incorrect odometer readings, can result in a corrected title being issued.
Step 1: Complete a bill of sale. Step 2: Exchange funds. Step 3: Release any liens on the car title. Step 1: Obtain the car title from the seller. Step 2: Fill out the title transfer section on the title. Step 3: Submit the paperwork to the DMV.
Step 1: Find the existing title. Step 2: Sign the title on the seller line. Step 3: Write both of your names as buyers. Step 4: Submit a Transfer of Title form. Step 5: Update your vehicle registration. Step 6: Notify your insurance company.
A car title is a document establishing the legal owner of a vehicle, whether a person or business, that's issued by a state department of motor vehicles. It's also referred to as a certificate of title or pink slip (as car titles in California were once that color).
Corrected Title?? A corrected title is exactly what it sounds like, a fixed title. This is done when something incorrect is found and the owner, and holder of the title, applies for a new title with the corrected information. This most often refers to 1 of 3 things.

Take a look at the title. Contact the person whose name you wish to remove from the title. Send the title in the mail to the person whose name you are removing. Go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles.

The seller should sign the title on the line that says Seller's signature. Again, if two people are selling the vehicle, both of their signatures need to fit on this line. Immediately next to this line is a place where the buyer(s) can sign their name(s).

Generally, the title transfer requirements include: The current title, the assignment filled in by the donor or seller, and notarized. A complete application for the replacement certificate of title. An odometer declaration, if the car is less than 10 years old.
