Why LPG bullets are mounded?
Mounded bullets are considered to be a safer option for LPG storage than conventional methods, such as Horton spheres, buried storage etc., because situations leading to a possible Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BREVE) are eliminated. Mounded bullet installation is more space efficient than spheres.

What is LPG bullet?
LPG bullets are the huge capacitive tank like structures which are named after its specifically designed shape in the form of bullet. These LPG bullets tanks are used for the purpose of saving the liquid petroleum gasses in a safe and efficient manner.
Why are gas tanks spherical?
The technical name for the spherical containers storing LPG is “Horton spheres”. The main advantage of the spherical construction is that the stress concentration in a spherical shape will be minimal while storing pressurized LPG. So, in a spherical container you use a thinner shell which means lesser cost and weight.
Why is propane stored in a sphere?
Spherical shape have the least surface area to volume ratio when compared to any other shape. Spherical shape also helps in neutralizing pressure coming from all directions, this makes it more stable. Also, the thickness required for spherical tank to withstand same pressure is less than any other shape.

A bullet tank is a storage container that houses natural gas liquids (GLS). Bullet tanks range from 6,000 to 30,000 gallons, with an 18,000-gallon tank being the most common size.
