Put the cursor at the place you will insert the checkbox symbol, and click Insert > Symbol > More Symbols. In the opening Symbol dialog box, please (1) choose Wingdings 2 from Font draw down list. (2) select one of specified checkbox symbols you will add. (3) click the Insert button.

You can use the tab key to bring the cursor to the check-box and hit the space bar on the keyboard to check or uncheck it. Space Bar will do the trick. Once the focus is on the checkbox (by pressing Tab), press the space bar to check/uncheck the check box.
In some situations, you may need to right-click on an icon, text, or other Windows element. To do this without a mouse, select the icon or move the cursor to the text you need to right-click. Then, press and hold the Shift and F10 keys at the same time.
