To make an appointment in your local office DO NOT CALL THAT OFFICE. Local offices do not make their own appointments. Instead, call the toll-free number 1-800-772-1213. Social Security schedules appointments 2-4 weeks in the future.
Yes, you can simply walk in. However, depending on the day, and how busy the office is, you will likely have a wait and should be prepared for that. Please be aware though that most things these days can be handled online or by phone.
Make an Appointment. To schedule an appointment, call the Social Security Administration's general customer service line at 1-800-772-1213 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, or contact your local office during normal business hours.
