Comprehensive, efficient and intuitive functionality. The only capability I missed was use of the arrow / scroll keys. A simplistic and refreshing technical experience. Thank you!

For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
(a) If the complaint is amended, a copy of the amendments shall be filed, or the court may, in its discretion, require the complaint as amended to be filed, and a copy of the amendments or amended complaint must be served upon the defendants affected thereby.
(Sub (a) amended effective July 1, 2007; previously amended effective January 1, 2007.) The complaint must be served on all named defendants and proofs of service on those defendants must be filed with the court within 60 days after the filing of the complaint.
Amended Complaint Law and Legal Definition. Amended complaint is a revision of the original complaint, previously filed by the plaintiff. For example, a plaintiff may wish to amend his/her complaint to include additional causes of action, or requests for relief, or to name additional parties as defendants to the action
Cross-Complaints: A cross-complaint, if one needs to be filed, must be filed before or at the time of the defendant's answer. 51 After that time has passed, the party will require leave from the court to file a cross-complaint.
The response or answer (“responsive pleading") to the counterclaim may include a cross-claim. When a party files a cross-claim, the Cross-Claimant and Cross-Defendant are added as a party to the proceeding.
2020 California Rules of Court (2) “Amended pleading" means a pleading that completely restates and supersedes the pleading it amends for all purposes. An amendment to a pleading does not restate or supersede the modified pleading but must be read together with that pleading.
P. 15(a) provides that a party may amend a claim once as a matter of course any time before a responsive pleading is served. If the pleading is one to which no responsive pleading is permitted, and the action has not been placed upon the trial calendar, a party may amend any time within 20 days of service.
The complaint must be served on all named defendants and proofs of service on those defendants must be filed with the court within 60 days after the filing of the complaint.
An answer is filed by the defendant after s/he has been served with a copy of the complaint. If you have been served with a summons and complaint, you have twenty-one (21) days to file an answer. The United States government, its agencies, and employees have sixty (60) days to file an answer.
(a) The summons and complaint shall be served upon a defendant within three years after the action is commenced against the defendant.
Service by Posting: In Unlawful Detained cases, the summons and complaint can sometimes be served by posting a copy on the premises and then mailing a copy of the summons and complaint by certified mail to the defendant's last known address (California Code of Civil Procedure §415.45).
In the majority of states, you can serve papers by sending them to the defendant via certified mail with a return receipt requested. In some states, service by certified (or registered) mail is one among several ways you may serve papers. Normally, the court clerk does the mailing for you and charges a small fee.
In California, the process server must have attempted to serve the defendant at least 3 times before attempting substituted service. The attempts must be made on different days of the week and at different hours when the defendant is likely to be available at the address.
No, in California a person cannot refuse to accept service. If we can identify a person on whom legal service can be made either personally or by sub-service, and they refuse to accept the documents, we can absolutely still serve them. It is common for subjects to try to refuse served papers.
428.50. (a) A party shall file a cross-complaint against any of the parties who filed the complaint or cross-complaint against him or her before or at the same time as the answer to the complaint or cross-complaint. (b) Any other cross-complaint may be filed at any time before the court has set a date for trial.
