I am older and my hand shakes so badly I cannot fill in forms -- it is a real life-saver, not to mention time-saver. I don't have to call someone in to fill the forms out for me, I've already recommended PDFfiller to a dozen friends!

For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Minimum depth of footing to be 24 inches below final grade and 12 inches below existing grade. Footing size to be based on allowable soil pressure of 2000 pounds per square foot. Anchor Bolts are to be 1/2 inch diameter, within 12 inches of corners and placed a MAXIMUM 6 feet o.c.
A guideline for the depth is 12 inches, plus one additional inch for every three inches of the column. For example, the footing for a six-inch column should be at least 14 inches deep. More is always better.
Depth: Footings should extend to a minimum depth of 12 inches below previously undisturbed soil. Footings also must extend at least 12 inches below the frost line (the depth to which the ground freezes in winter) or must be frost-protected. Width: Footings should have a minimum width of 12 inches.

You can look up the recommended footing size, based on the size and type of house and the bearing capacity of the soil (see the table above). As you can see, heavy houses on weak soil need footings 2 feet wide or more. But the lightest buildings on the strongest soil require footings as narrow as 7 or 8 inches.
Eight inches is the minimum thickness for a footing. Ten inches are better and twelve inches is highly desirable. The depth of the footing in the ground depends on: the local frost depth.
Frequently a concrete footer is 20, 24 or even 30 inches wide and at least 8-inches thick. More often than not you'll see them 10-inches thick. The average foundation wall is usually only 8-inches thick (wide).
Assuming a minimum soil bearing capacity of 1,500 PSF, 8-inch-diameter concrete piers bearing on square footings measuring 2 feet on a side and 9 to 11 inches thick are adequate for most single-story decks where beams are spaced 14 feet apart or less and joist spans are 14 feet or fewer (see table below).
