The goal of ‘Adapt License’ was to give other people in the world the right ‘to be able to read and write a program that we, the developers, developed on that technology. In the FSA model, a copyright for a project does not imply that the developer of the project grants the right for another person of the community to use the project's software to do something without going through or paying permission fees. The new ‪Adapt License’ gives you full control over your copyright while ensuring you retain ownership; and provides you with full transparency into your use of images, text, and graphics. The first Adapt License, known as an “adaptation license” or “flexible license,” permitted licensed users to make use of any work provided they used attribution statements to explain that they licensed their use from the original license holders. In addition, in addition to clarifying this information, the new license also gives original license holders greater rights to the work by allowing them to be notified if a new license application is filed by licensing users without their consent.
