The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is the body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
All institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) are required to undergo a review for reaffirmation of accreditation every ten years.
SACS CASI accreditation is essentially the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval”: the highest level of accreditation any educational institution can achieve in the Southeastern United States.
Regional accreditation helps ensure that students attending 3,000 accredited colleges and universities in the United States get the best education possible. The public can feel confident that the colleges and universities we accredit are stable and deliver high quality student outcomes. Peer review is rigorous review.
After awarding of initial Membership, an institution must undergo reaffirmation in five years. This reaffirmation process will require completion of a Compliance Certification, development of a Quality Enhancement Plan (Standard 7.2), and both Off-Site and On-Site Reaffirmation Committee reviews.
Considered the most prestigious and widely-recognized type of accreditation, regionally-accredited schools are reviewed by their designated regional agency. Nationally-accredited agencies review institutions of a similar type, such as career, vocational, and technical (art & design, nursing, etc.)
SACSCOC is an institutional accreditor that employs an accountable and transparent peer review process which assures educational quality and integrity, fosters continuous self-improvement, and promotes student success.
