You need to open Active Directory Users and Computers, and you need to have 'Advanced options' enabled. Locate your user and open their properties > Attribute Editor > Attributes > pwdLastSet. If you want to set it to expired, then set its value to Zero.
In Active Directory, if a password policy is set to expire passwords on a specific interval then each user account will have an attribute called pwdLastSet. This is an attribute that specifies the date and time the user's password was last changed.
If you're running Windows 7, go to Start and type cmd in the Search programs and files field. If you're running Windows 8, right-click the Start button, click Run, and type cmd. At the Command Prompt type:
As long as the user changes the password before Password Expired, they can continue to log in to the domain and all is good. However, if the password expires, then the user cannot log in again until an Administrative Password Reset occurs.
The reason password expiration policies exist, is to mitigate the problems that would occur if an attacker acquired the password hashes of your system and were to break them. These policies also help minimize some risk associated with losing older backups to an attacker.
The rule being: change your password every 90 days (or 45 days, depending on the workplace). It's a security best practice that will keep your account sand your organizationsecure from hackers and nosy coworkers.
Password aging is another technique used by system administrators to defend against bad passwords within an organization. Password aging means that after a specified period (usually 90 days), the user is prompted to create a new password.
Open the terminal application. Type chage -l userName command to display password expiration information for Linux user account. The -l option passed to the change show account aging information. Check tom user's password expiry time, run: sudo change -l tom.
Listing password aging for user: change command with option -l shows the password expiry details of a user. Change the number of days to expire: Use -M option and provide the number of days for expiry. Change the password to never expire: Change account expiry to specific date:
By default, passwords are set to expire in 90 days. Current research strongly indicates that mandated password changes do more harm than good. They drive users to choose weaker passwords, re-use passwords, or update old passwords in ways that are easily guessed by hackers.
That's why the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and most professionals recommend frequent password changes. The recommended frequency can range from every 30, 60, to 90 days. However, there's a problem that comes with frequent password changes.

The Enforce password history policy setting determines the number of unique new passwords that must be associated with a user account before an old password can be reused. Password reuse is an important concern in any organization. Many users want to reuse the same password for their account over a long period of time.
Use the WIN + R to open the Run dialog. Enter secpol. msc and press Enter. Expand to "Account Policies" > "Password Policy”, you'll see the "Enforce password history" setting on the right. Double-click the setting and set it to remember 0 passwords.
By default, the maximum password age is set to 42 days and minimum password age is set to 0. The Maximum password age policy setting determines the period of time (in days) that a password can be used before the system requires the user to change it.
